Weekend Shots: Cupcakes & Cabin-Fever

Starting March 1st, I’m going to start the 365 Project, and I’m pretty excited! I was fresh out of commitment this month to begin, but lots of photoblogs (esp. Adele’s modernemotive & Jeannine’s ppppapertissue) have inspired me to give the photo-a-day project a shot. Consider this post practice!

Long-awaited, but I just got the Nikkor AF 50mm f/1.8 & Tokina 12-24mm f/4 AT-X 124 AF Pro DX II , and I think this project will be a great outlet for becoming familiar with these lenses. I’m sure the 50mm prime will change the way I shoot, as I’ve never before owned a non-zoom lens (I know, I know).

So, this weekend I mostly stayed in and hid from the cold, but I did go on a dusk photowalk around the block:

I sauteed some jalapenos, subsequently inhaled the vapors, and had a wonderful coughing fit:

Here are a few with the 50mm:

That’s an amber-colored glass I drink out of all the time, and back-lit I thought it was quite striking. Also, a giant 1.8 aperture is fun stuff! This is Osker; I interrupted his daytime sleeping and he was pissed. They’re crepuscular:

No, he’s not an amputee, just fat…

I baked cupcakes! Of course, I had to put one in the lightbox:

The End.

I so want a cupcake right now. They are so beautifully decorated! I never have the patience for that.

I love my Nikkor 50mm/f1.8. It's actually become my go to lens. You are inspiring me to take on project 365, especially with spring around the corner.
